                                                                        Keyword: Space

When you think of the word space, you may think of perhaps outer space, the space in a room or perhaps figurative space, such space between musical notes. What I’m going to discuss is the fact that you name something (that is not there, empty space) You in fact give a form to something that is form-less.  While on the surface this may seem but I will discuss this in both a literal sense and a metaphysical sense using psychological truths, to show the importance of this concept, of giving form to something that is Infinite.

[Excerpt form Eckhart Tolles: a new earth. “What does the Universe consist of? Objects and Space, by giving it the name (Space) you define something that is not there.”]

This excerpt makes me think, that some astronomer trying to define his discovery, Space, where there is No-Thing. (Nothing) But it had to have a name so he must have called it outer space. (or the universe, perhaps space came later) Regardless this is a similar pattern of human thinking, that we can find in people who the universal intelligence “god.” People reduce something that is infinite down to a mental picture, word, or meaning. Just like the universal Intelligence is defined into a male living in the sky (god.)

How can you define something that is not there? Space in actuality is not there, as it were, not a mental construct you can “understand.” But it is something you can only be “aware of,” that there is no-thing there.

Space in a sense of small scale, such as within a room or between two people, this can determine a lot depending on how close, or how apart (how much space) they are from each other determines The Relationship, also How that person occupies that space can determine what that person is doing.

Outer space, as seen on star trek, has bee acquainted with things such as stars planets and astronomy, So what does the universe consist of? Objects and Space.

Universal Intelligence similar to space being put down to a form the mind can understand, turning “no -thingness” into form.

[Robert Anthony,  Excerpt]

Inner space or consciousness, most people suffer from over stimulating mind activity, in other words Thinking takes up so much inner space it becomes compulsive, and people identify with their thoughts, thus blocking their space, from which all creativity is created. To put it another way, your conscious mind, takes up so much of your time and is being used so much you do not use or exercise your subconscious and cannot access your super-conscious (higher Intelligence). So it isn’t in conceivable that the universal Intelligence is part of space, and if there is space “out there” then there must be space with each of us, and therefore the Universal mind has the same Principal of our mind, that is to say it is connected to you through your subconscious, and is your super conscious.

The collective subconscious the individual expression of conscious form becoming conscious of itself, the awareness of space as it were is the fundamental principal of the collective subconscious. We as people are one with that subconscious for example when Mr. Loan pointed out the other day, when he gets a really good idea and that is original,  he occasionally or much of the time sees the exact same thing as his “original Idea.” His subconscious was in tune with the creative higher intelligence, the great Ideas are not originated with in your mind there are circulating through the collective subconscious and you merely tune into the mind of universal Intelligence.

Time and Space, when I say time I am not referring to clock time, I refer to psychological time, the breeder of worry, stress, negativity, all forms of psychological time, which kills creativity.

Keyword Project

http://mike234stebb.blogspot.com/

I was researching My keyword Project “Religion, and I found something very interesting, I looked for this word in Google images and I found that there almost NO positive pictures regarding Religion, they were all either Sarcastic, or negative either putting religion down or making fun of.

Originally I thought that the majority of the world had some religious persuasion, but I think these Search results prove otherwise.

Reading Log: week 3-9-10

Hey everyone, I was reading in rhythme science on page 108. Miller writes “enter keyword “truth.” So I conducted a search revealing the most relative webpage in google was an article about Tabbaco? here is the web results in the form of a URL: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLG_enUS370US370&q=truth

Pretty interesting that “tabacco” of all things is what come up, Miller also says  “when you enter truth in the search engine you get conflicting meanings.” another web result is truth or fiction. I guess miller is correct that the search engines do yield conflicting results. for example, How much Truth is around Tabbaco, not the substance itself, but what the tabbaco companies are and what they do? The companies are not truthful, They are scheming (at least that is my impression of them.) They use various marketing tactics to get young people to buy their product and get them addicted to nicatine at a young age. Miller is an interesting writer…

This is not in The keywords book, but I think my midterm project will will be about this keyword.
Religion by Dictionary Definition is a set of Beliefs a group or individual has.
Now however a religion has taken on a new from and identity, it is more of a organization, with rituals, and dogma. It also traditionally has a belief in some supernatural force. The Christians and Muslims, and Jews all have a beliefs in some god.
But the fact that they all believe in a god this also leads to one group condemning and criticizing the another group calling them “Pagan” or “nonbelievers.”
Religions has also taken on many of the characteristics, and behaviors of a cult, Scientology anyone. (note the picture of tom cruise)
I dont want to give too much info on this topic, as i want to have some material for my mid term project :)
cheers

My keyword that i chose for this week is materialism, Of the keywords ive chosen i think i will chose either Materialism or religion. Simply because of the wealth of information available.

For materialism i decided to turn to, the stand up comedian, George Carlin. In my exploration of Materialism Ive thought about what it means to me, and how others (in this case George Carlin) view this, I highly respect his opinon when it comes to religion and consumerism/ materialism.

The way I view materialism, is someone’s focused view on the gain of things. To put it bluntly a person who is shallow, who typically thinks of how they can increase their material assets, at the cost of others. Think of how this has hurt people as a whole, our economy, friendships, etc.

when you view this video keep an open mind, When he speaks of “The pursuit of goods” around 5:40.

Enjoy

Reading Log week 6

This will be the first reading log That i have posted, all my others ive handed in to Mr Loan (in case your wondering why im posting this now.)

On pg. 51 in keywords, he compares capitalism to bourgeois. When he mentions “circulating capital” he does expand on this phrase but perhaps the meaning of this word is to spread around wealth? He also brings up how there has been much debate about the definitions  of capitalism, which resonates with what Harris writes on pg. 36 in rewriting, “the art of conversation is subtler than that of a debate.” I guess debate would be the keyword here, he continues saying it is a need to articulate and point out differences. I think what we can take out of rewriting is that when someone does debate it is essential and might be plausible, or should at least be heard  in this case capitalism.

Rhythm Science, Miller talks about how we have lost our selves in superficial things?? on pg 52. “..[we get involved] in things that were formally superficial(…) detached from our own beings.” And in Rewriting I read a passage that made me think it was linked to Rhythm Science. In Rewriting Harris writes, “Texts can become fatherless detached from their authors and interpretted recklessly” What i guess Harris means is that when a writer puts something out in the “Main Stream” The readers of the text often misinterpret the authors original intent, reading only the superficial context. Now how does this relate to Rhythm Science? The word here is Detached. I suppose these two ideas in there own way relate to each other. The fact that we loose ourselves in our technology. Or “loos control” could be interpreted in the technical or the metaphysical. As humans with our increasing usage and dependence on our technology we loose both our “control” and our connectedness to ourselves by becoming more in tune with the superficial things.

The big difference between Harris and Miller, is that Harris is talking about a text. Miller write about loosing your “attention” or focus and putting it on something superficial thus becoming detached from yourself in a meta physical sense.

Keyword for this week: “bureaucracy”

Hey everyone, Ive missed about two weeks of blog posting, ill do my best to update this thing more regularly. So my keyword I chose was Bureaucracy. The term bureau means desk or office bureaucracy means Rule of the desk.

In keywords Williams writes: “..In English and North American usage the foreign term, bureaucracy, was used to indicate the rigidity or excessive power of public administration..” pg 49.

Rigid and excessive power is a good way of putting it, Anyone would argue that our government is not functioning the way it was intended. If I remember correctly the bureaucracy was originally created To give everyone equal treatment. “On-paper” everyone would be treated just the same. I think that was the intent of it originally, to benefit the whole not the individual. Now however I think most everyone who has their drivers license would argue that Bureacracy has little if any value. The procedures, paper and regulation, make this type of business take a long time or progresses slowly at best. We are going towards a paperless society and things are changing, whether its for the better or not remains to be seen.

ill bring up more on this topic later.

Cheers

Michael

What i want to do when exploring this Keyword, is to bring about or awaken both your and my own creative, and artistic side. Because to me art and creativity are the same thing. I am an actor so I do have some real world experience in art, and being creative. I think everyone has an artistic side, and an expressive side, most of the time we Supress it. We become adults, and suppress our child like playfulness. such as when your mom told you to stop playing your keyboard so loudly, or someone told you, “you cant make it as an actor, get a career!”

I was told this, and things like this, alot as a child. I wanted to be an actor since I was very young. I didnt want to be joe the plumber. chances are you can relate to me. So watch this video and see how it affects you. See how this man uses Classical music in front of his audience. Listen especially when he says “…The music pushed me over…”

Enjoy
